Privacy & AI

Deshen has no ads or behavioral tracking. You can read the Bible without an account or an internet connection. Account sync and AI are optional, and Deshen explains what leaves your device before it does.

If you create an account, Supabase handles your email, authentication session, and synced highlights, bookmarks, notes, guided studies, and tutor conversations. Deshen also uses a random app-install identifier to enforce the monthly AI allowance when you are signed out and to attach a user-initiated AI answer flag to its review record. It is not an advertising identifier.

If you choose Continue to AI, your question—and, during guided study, any notes for that step—goes through Deshen’s Supabase service to xAI so its AI can create an answer. Deshen verifies quoted Scripture before showing the answer. Signed-out tutor conversations stay on the device; signed-in tutor conversations sync privately to the account. Guided study coach exchanges are not added to your account conversation history.

The flag on an AI answer sends that question, answer, citations, verification record, and Deshen app-install identifier to Deshen Ministries for human review. A support email contains what you choose to write plus the app version and device platform. Deshen does not otherwise read your questions or study work.

Voice dictation is handled by your device’s speech service. Deshen does not receive or store microphone audio. If you add a profile picture, Deshen accesses only the photo you choose and stores it privately with your account in Supabase. You can replace or remove it at any time from Manage account.

Account data stays until you delete the account. In-app deletion removes the account and its synced data; anything already stored only on that device remains there. Monthly allowance records and anonymized verification events may remain for service integrity. Flagged exchanges remain for review and quality unless you ask Deshen Ministries to remove them. xAI’s API service stores inputs and outputs for up to 30 days for abuse auditing and does not train on API data by default, except where a different agreement applies or longer retention is required for usage-policy enforcement or law. Supabase provides authentication, storage, and server functions. xAI provides the AI model only after your choice above. The World English Bible is public domain. Availability of the King James Version follows applicable territory rights.
